Dining in Casablanca, Morocco
On a visit this summer to the northwestern African country of Morocco, in the city of Casablanca, I had beautiful evening in a magical space.
If you have ever seen the movie named after the city, Casablanca, which admittedly I have not. Although I do know the famous line from the film, “Frankly my darling, I don’t give a damn.” Maybe I should watch the movie to see what he was actually talking about in that line. There is a cafe, called Rick’s Cafe, featured in the movie. That cafe was recreated with the same name in 2004 into what is now a must see tourist destination. The architecture and the atmosphere are unmatched. It’s an experience that can absolutely be defined as unique.
The staff was friendly, helpful and attentive. The food was good. And the lighting through the windows and arches of the room created a backdrop of elegance and romance.
Live music starts nightly at 9pm (and can be viewed on facebook live). It’s probably wise to make a reservation, especially on the weekend.
